Perhaps the most heart-warming story of the past week was that of Mr Ronald Euan, who this week was reunited with his own shadow after a 40 year search.

Euan had been separated from his shadow in March 6th 1975 while a round of golf; “I definitely had my shadow the morning as I distinctly remember having it at the first hole. However, half way through the round my playing, Kenny, noticed my shadow was missing while I was lining up my putt.”

After the initially shock of losing his shadow, Euan went through what he called a “dark patch” for the next 4 decades; “Initially, I put up missing posters and presumed my shadow would be turn up quickly. However, this was not to be.It was a horrible being the man with no shadow in a world full of shadows. I lost my job at the fish factory and struggled to get a job for the next 10 years. I believe was a lot of prejudice against me because of my predicament”

However, the dark days of the past ended yesterday morning when Euan received a phone from the ‘M.S.O’ (Missing Shadows Organisation) saying that they had found his shadow; “I couldn’t believe it. I thought I was dreaming but was really happening. I’m not ashamed to say I cried my eyes out. We were reunited at the M.S.O headquarters and it was beautiful moment.”

Karyn Johnston, founder of M.S.O, said of the story “This is certainly our emotional reunion. 40 years is by far the longest anyone has ever been separated from their shadow. People don’t realise how important their shadow is until it’s not there.”
